Zion National Park Historic Photographs
Artist Retreats | Special Needs Program
Currently Showing through April 30
Bingham Gallery, Mt. Carmel, Utah
For Zion National Park's centennial, the archivists at the Gerald R. Sherratt Library, Southern Utah University restored 23 photos that show Zion National Park and the people who visited and worked in Zion Canyon beginning at the turn of the 19th century.
"The exhibit's images capture the history of Zion Canyon through the eyes of area photographers during the first half of the 20th Century," notes Bingham Gallery owner Paul Bingham. "The Bingham Galley and the Thunderbird Foundation for the Arts are honored to have the opportunity to share this exhibit with the residents of Long Valley and tourists traveling to and from Zion Canyon." In addition to "Historic Photos of Zion Canyon", guests will also see paintings by Kate Starling, currently showing at the Gallery. The Bingham Gallery is open daily from 10-5.
"We were touched by the number of local people who had heard about the early days of Zion Canyon from their parents and grandparents, but had never seem these photographs," says Ed Meyer, Chairman of CEBA's Arts and Culture Committee. "We are grateful that the Bingham Gallery has agreed to extend the exhibit's stay in Kane County."
